Bus Training – PCV Category D Licence

Do you want to be a bus or coach driver? You’ll need to obtain a Category D licence. This will allow you to drive any kind of bus or coach. You’ll need the best bus training to obtain your licence.
Our bus training will help prepare you for the PCV category D test. Whether you plan to drive a minibus, bendy bus, double-decker, single-decker bus or limousine, we will help you obtain the necessary skills to safely operate these vehicles.
Bus Training Requirements
In order to qualify for the training course, you will need to meet the following requirements:
1. Be at least 17 years old
2. Already hold a Category B (car) driving licence
3. Attend and pass a PCV medical examination (we will arrange a medical for you at no extra cost).
- No more than 16 passenger seats
- A maximum length of 8 meters
- A trailer up to 750kg
Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)
If you are considering to work professionally as a PCV driver for a bus or coach operator then you will need to hold a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) card after you have completed your bus training. Although the Driver CPC became an obligatory qualification in 2014 for professional LGV and PCV licence holders there is still a great deal of confusion about the qualification.

Learn Through Bus Training
Our bus training is aimed at not only helping you obtain the theory and skills necessary for passing the PCV licence test but also ensuring that you become a professional concerned with safety. Our training includes:
- Theory (Module 1)
This part of the PCV training course requires you to successfully pass the bus theory multiple choice and hazard perception elements. We’ll provide you with excellent theory web based training materials to help you to understand the concepts behind road safety and other driving principles. Our theory includes case studies to help you understand the application of theory through real-world cases. We aim at ensuring that our students are better prepared for various scenarios on the job.
- Practical Driving and Test (Module 3)
We will help you obtain the necessary skills to safely handle a bus or coach. Our practical PCV training will help you see the application of various tasks applied by experienced commercial drivers and instructors. Your training will include ‘S’ shaped reversing practice, lane discipline, braking exercise, stop and move on, as well as road and route driving to best prepare you for the practical test. Your practical training will usually take up to 5 days which will be enough time for you to gain a good understanding and pick up the necessary skills to pass your PCV training module 3 test.
